Ontario Marks First Access to Nickel Ore at the Craig Mine Onaping Depth Expansion
Premier Doug Ford marked the first access to nickel ore at Glencore Canada’s Onaping Depth Project, a nearly $2-billion extension of the Craig Mine in Greater Sudbury. Ford said the project will expand Ontario’s nickel supply chain and support up to 400 full-time jobs when production begins in 2027.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a more than $11-billion contract with Chantier Davie Canada Inc. to build six Canadian Coast Guard program icebreakers at the Davie Shipyard in Lévis, Québec. The vessels will replace aging icebreakers and support trade routes, search and rescue, and environmental response.
Premier R.J. Simpson criticized new U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods and backed a coordinated Canadian response to support affected workers, businesses and industries.
